On October 26, CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu was invited to attend and give a video speech in the IP20+ Global Intellectual Property Challenges Forum, organized by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), which was held in the margins of the Saudi G20 Presidency.
Shen Changyu outlined how the CNIPA worked actively amid the epidemic to protect applicants' rights and interests, support epidemic-related scientific and technological breakthroughs, facilitate market players to resume their business and production and strengthen international cooperation. He proposed improving global IP governance and promoting global innovation despite future challenges. He added that the CNIPA is willing to join hands with WIPO and IP agencies of various countries and regions including G20 to further share information and experience, in order to provide quality service for global users and boost global innovation cooperation and economic recovery.
This is a first-ever high-level conference on IP cooperation held under the framework of G20, at which participants discussed the solutions of the member states in the IP field amid the COVID-19 and how to enhance their IP cooperation. The Joint Statement of the Global Intellectual Property Challenges Forum (IP20+) proposed by the SAIP was adopted.
