Visionox announced on November 6 that the company's holding companies Guoxian Optoelectronics, Yungu Gu'an and Kunshan Industrial Technology Research Institute intend to sign a "Patent Transfer Contract" with Chengdu Chenxian Optoelectronics Co., Ltd.
According to the announcement, Visionox needs to transfer part of its Micro LED-related patent technology to Chengdu Chenxian in accordance with the contract. Chengdu Chenxian pays the corresponding fees according to the terms of the contract. The patent transfer fee is 300 million yuan.
It is worth noting that Chengdu Chenxian is the main operating entity of the Micro LED project jointly invested and established by Visionox and the Chengdu State-owned Investment Platform. It is mainly engaged in research and development and production related to Micro LED technology.
According to the announcement, the 506 patented technologies and proprietary technologies related to Micro LED transferred by Visionox's patents are all independently researched and developed, mainly related to backplane technology, mass transfer technology, drive technology, packaging and module technology, and equipment technology and six types of terminal technology,
including 493 invention patents and 13 utility models. Among the invention patents, 183 have obtained patent certificates and 310 have been accepted and are in application status; among utility model patents, 11 have obtained patent certificates and two have been accepted and are in application status.
It is reported that in August this year, Visionox Micro LED advanced display technology research and development and industrialization verification project settled in Chengdu. The project investment is about 1.2 billion yuan, and it is planned to start the construction of mass production lines in 2023.
According to the project plan, Chengdu Chenxian is the main body of the implementation of the Micro LED display technology research and development and industrialization verification project. It will build a Micro LED display device and module test line and a pilot line in the Chengdu High-tech Zone, focusing on massive transfer, driving and testing, develop and produce key technologies such as chip design and colorization.
According to the announcement, Chengdu Chenxian's development strategy was that in the future, it will cooperate with major brand manufacturers and scientific research units to conduct Micro LED technology cooperative development or project research, so there is a high demand for the ownership of the patented technology property rights transferred this time. After friendly negotiation with Chengdu Chenxian and its controlling shareholder, the company agreed to transfer the patented technology related to Micro LED.
Visionox stated that the display industry is a typical capital-intensive and technology-intensive industry that requires continuous investment in research and development. The transfer of Micro LED-related patented technology is conducive to the company’s rational deployment of advantageous resources, focusing on the research and development of AMOLED’s main products’ production and sales, and enhance the company's core competitiveness.
