On November 14, the 16th China (Wuxi) International Design Expo opened. The 21st China Patent Award (Design) was awarded at the opening ceremony. This is also the first time that the 21st China Patent Award (Design) Ceremony was held at the Wuxi Design Expo. Shen Changyu, director of the National Intellectual Property Administration, PRC, Ma Qiulin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, and Huang Qin, Secretary of Wuxi Municipal Party Committee attended the opening ceremony and presented awards to the winners. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), addressed the conference via video. Liu Hua, Director of the WIPO China Office, attended the meeting. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Lefu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Provincial Government.

In his video speech, Daren Tang stated that the cooperation between WIPO and CNIPA on the China Patent Awards could be traced back to 1989. He hopes that this award can inspire Chinese entrepreneurs and innovators to commercialize their intellectual property rights, and even out of the country. The market also extends to the international market. In the past few decades, China has built an efficient and modern intellectual property ecosystem, which has promoted economic and social development. WIPO is willing to continue to cooperate with China in the field of intellectual property and innovation.

At the China Patent Award (Design) Awarding Conference, Hu Wenhui, Deputy Director of the Patent Office and Director of the Office of CNIPA, announced the awarding decision of the 21st China Patent Award (Design). The leader of the meeting was CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive Representatives of ten Chinese Appearance Design Gold Award winners, including Vehicle Co., Ltd. and Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd., presented awards. Subsequently, Wang Jun, vice president of CRRC, and two other representatives of China’s appearance design gold award winners made speeches.

At the opening ceremony, the participating leaders jointly launched the Wuxi Design Expo. Subsequently, Chinese contemporary artist and national first-level artist Han Meilin, former president of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and member of the National Intellectual Property Strategy Expert Group Wu Handong and other industry experts and scholars gave online and offline speeches.

Before the opening ceremony, Shen Changyu and his entourage visited the offline special exhibition area and listened to the introduction of some of the exhibited appearance design works.

It is understood that this year’s Wuxi Design Expo will last three days and set up four themed exhibition halls, bringing together domestic and foreign exhibitors and institutions represented by Little Swan, CRRC, Haier Innovation Center, NIO, and Goodbaby. The general exhibition area reached 24,600 square meters. At the same time, this year’s Wuxi Design Expo has also upgraded the online expo platform and held three high-end industry forums, namely the “Innovative Design Forum”, “Design and Intellectual Property Protection Forum”, and “Additive Manufacturing Industry Technology Innovation Forum” in an effort to attract professional audiences.
