On November 24, the first China Intellectual Property Academic Annual Conference with the theme of "Intellectual Property and High-quality Development and Commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the Implementation of the Patent Law" was held in Beijing. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the National Intellectual Property Office, PRC delivered a video speech.
Shen Changyu pointed out in the speech that the promotion of high-quality development is a major strategic deployment made by the Party Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core and focusing on the overall economic and social development of the country. CNIPA conscientiously implemented the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and adopted a series of positive measures to improve the quality of intellectual property rights, which strongly supported high-quality economic development. Over the past 35 years since the implementation of the Patent Law, China's intellectual property industry has experienced a leap-forward development from system start-up, strategy implementation to building a strong country, and intellectual property academic research has also made great progress. The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee drew a grand blueprint for China’s development in the next five years and a long-term goal for 2035. There are many theoretical and practical issues in the field of intellectual property that need to be studied and explored. It is hoped that all parties will continue to cultivate the "fertile soil" of intellectual property. Breaking into the "no man's land" of intellectual property rights, proposing more new ideas, and new measures in the field of intellectual property rights, to provide strong support for accelerating the construction of a country with intellectual property rights, promoting high-quality economic development, and comprehensively building a modern socialist country.
The opening ceremony of the annual meeting was presided over by Zhou Huiguo, Deputy Director of CNIPA. Tian Lipu, Chairman of China Intellectual Property Research Association, Zhang Qin, CPPCC Standing Committee Member, Yang Tiejun, Vice Chairman of China Intellectual Property Research Association, Xiao Xingwei, Director of the Fourth National Intellectual Property Expert Advisory Committee, Liu Changsheng, President of Shanghai University, and Wu Handong, an expert and scholar in the field of intellectual property, Mu Rongping, Xue Lan, Li Shunde, Yi Jiming, etc. attended the annual meeting on-site or via video.
This annual conference was hosted by the China Intellectual Property Research Association. More than 500 representatives from relevant government departments, scientific research institutes, intellectual property service organizations, etc. adopted online and offline methods to focus on the theme of the annual conference, and discussed the "Fourth Amendment of Intellectual Property and Patent Law under the Civil Code" and "Modernization of property rights governance system and governance capabilities", and the "protection of intellectual property rights in new technologies and new formats", were discussed in depth.
