Recently, the Henan Provincial Market Supervision Administration issued the "Henan Provincial Geographical Indication Application Promotion Project Implementation Plan".
From the three aspects of overall requirements, work tasks, and safeguard measures, the "Plan" determines a sound system for promoting the use of geographical indications, deepening the economic integration and development of the geographical indication industry, comprehensively enhancing the brand value of geographical indications, deepening the promotion of geographical indications, consolidating the achievements and assistance in poverty alleviation, vigorously strengthen the five key tasks of promoting capacity building through the use of geographical indications, and a total of fifteen powerful measures were proposed. The "Plan" clearly stated that by the end of 2021, ten provincial-level geographical indication application promotion projects will be built, twenty well-known geographical indication brands will be cultivated, the efficiency of geographical indication development and utilization will be significantly improved, and the scale of the industry will continue to expand; by the end of 2025, ten projects will be completed. Project implementation projects for promoting the use of geographical indications in China, twenty projects for promoting the application of geographical indications at the provincial level, fostering fifty well-known brands of geographical indications, and cultivating a group of national intellectual property advantage demonstration enterprises with geographical indication intellectual property rights. The geographical indication industry chain has particular scale, remarkable results have been achieved in serving the regional development, the intellectual property system has been completed, and a new pattern of strong province of intellectual property has taken shape.
The "Plan" requires that it be necessary to strengthen overall coordination, enhance the promotion of the use of geographical indications, clarify goals and tasks, formulate implementation plans and supporting policies, establish working mechanisms, actively carry out resource exchange and integration with the work of relevant departments, and give full play to multiple roles, and focus on establish a work pattern for promoting the use of geographical indications in which enterprises are the mainstay, market-oriented, the government builds a platform, and the society participates altogether; improve the investment mechanism, make full use of existing financial funding channels, promote the establishment of special geographical indication funds, and broaden the financing channels for geographical indication companies; pay attention to publicity and guidance, strengthen investigation and research, timely grasp the problems in the process of project implementation, summarize the experience, and contribute to the province's high-quality economic development.
