Intellectual property trade and scientific research collaboration is an important part of enterprise development and response to changes. The 10th "Asian Intellectual Property Business Forum" jointly organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Design Centre officially opened on December 4, and held online for two consecutive days. This year's forum invited more than sixty intellectual property experts and business leaders from all over the world to share the latest industry trends. At the opening ceremony held this morning, the conference invited Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Carrie Lam, China National Intellectual Property Administration Director Shen Changyu, and World Intellectual Property Organization Director General Daren Tang delivered opening speeches.
Hong Kong Trade Development Council President Margaret Fong said: "The forum provides a platform for professionals and business leaders related to the intellectual property industry to discuss the latest developments and trends in the industry, and at the same time provide opportunities for business cooperation. As the global economy is affected by the global epidemic and the geopolitical situation, the theme of the forum fits the expectations of the industry and seeks opportunities in crisis. This year’s forum will be conducted online, transcending geographical restrictions, and allowing the global industry to participate simultaneously, and share real insights and exchange of experience."
Open innovation: Promote collaboration in the process of change
Facing the ever-changing challenges, companies must make changes, and the promotion of collaboration has become crucial. The keynote speech on the morning of December 3 welcomed industry leaders to discuss how to use "open innovation" to help companies make full use of external resources, solve various complex problems, and create greater business value. Yancey Strickler, the co-founder and former CEO of Kickstarter, a global large-scale crowdfunding website, shared his process of establishing the platform and talked about how he unites different creators and creates value through collaboration and innovation. The special speech session invited Borderless founder Arata Oono and Origami Labs CMO and co-founder Chen Yanshow as the guests of the dialogue.
In the final keynote speech session in the afternoon, multinational companies shared and discussed the collaboration models of different enterprises. Open innovation creates new approaches to create value and unleashes the potential of intellectual property. As companies face increasingly fierce global competition, establishing new collaboration methods with different countries, industries and even different individuals has become a vital business strategy. Christina Petersson, Chief Intellectual Property Officer of Ericsson, Beat Weibel, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel and Group Senior Vice President of Siemens, and John Mulgrew, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel and Vice President of Lenovo, and Vice President John Mulgrew, discussed "collaboration to create intellectual property value".
As the engine of innovation and technology, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has a large number of innovative ideas and inventions, and also involves a large number of intellectual property transactions. This session, there will continue to be the thematic forums of the Greater Bay Area. As an important intellectual property trading center in Asia, the Greater Bay Area has received attention for its latest planning and development. The forum, together with the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Administration (Intellectual Property Office) and the Guangzhou Development Zone Intellectual Property Association, jointly discussed the latest intellectual property developments in the Greater Bay Area, and invited stakeholders in the area, including Wenyuan Zhixing and Guangzhou Intellectual Property Representatives from the Exchange Center, Macau University of Science and Technology, Expo Tech Consulting and Fubo Group shared development opportunities.
