From January to October 2020 trademark applications in China reached 7.568 million

On December 7th, the reporter learned from the 12th China International Trademark and Brand Festival that from January to October this year, the number of trademark applications in China was 7.568 million, and the number of trademark registrations was 4.645 million. As of the end of October 2020, China has 29.182 million valid registered trademarks, ranking first in the world for many years. From January to October 2019, the number of trademark applications in China was 6.330 million, and the number of trademark registrations was 5.506 million. As of the end of October 2019, the number of valid registered trademarks was 24.487 million. The number of trademark applications and registrations has increased significantly year-on-year, and the number of valid registered trademarks has increased by nearly 5 million in one year.

The increase in the number of domestic trademark applications reflects the continuous positive results of China's overall planning of the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic and economic and social development, indicating that China's national economic operation continues to stabilize and recover, commercial activities are still active, and brands are entering the market more intensively.

The substantial increase in the number of trademark registrations indicates that China's trademark review has been further accelerated and the reform of "delegation, management, and service" has achieved significant results. The registered trademark review cycle has undergone several reforms and optimizations. As early as the end of 2018, the relevant departments reduced the registered trademark review cycle to six months and further reduced it to five months before the end of 2019.
