According to the "Statistical Investigation System of Intellectual Property Service Industry" approved and implemented by the National Bureau of Statistics, the Intellectual Property Application Promotion Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration conducted a statistical survey on the development of the national intellectual property service industry from June to September 2020, and formed the related report. It shows that the development of the service industry of the United Nations Intellectual Property Organization has reached a new level and presents seven characteristics.

First, the scale of the industry continues to expand

As of the end of 2019, the number of intellectual property rights institutions was approximately 66,000, an increase of 8.2% from 2018.

Second, the role of expanding employment continues to be improved

According to measurement, as of the end of 2019, there were approximately 820,000 employees in the conventional intellectual property service industry, an increase of 2.6% from the end of 2018.

Third, the level of efficiency has increased steadily

According to calculations, in 2019, military intellectual property service institutions in China created a total of about 210 billion U.S. dollars in operating income, an annual increase of 13.2%.

Fourth, the momentum of intensive development is remarkable

In 2019, the Top 100 patent agencies (accounting for 3.8% of all patent agencies) represented 35.8% of all patent applications in 2019.

Fifth, the role of service supporting innovation has further emerged

In 2019, patent agencies represented a total of 1.184 million invention patent applications, accounting for 84.5% of the total number of invention patent applications in 2019.

Sixth, the rapid development of new models and new formats

The survey shows that the "Internet +" intellectual property service model is developing rapidly. Among the Top 30 agencies for trademark registration applications in 2019, about twenty are the "Internet +" platform model.

Seventh, confidence in the development of the industry has increased significantly

The survey shows that 60.6% of service organizations believe that the market environment of the intellectual property service industry in the next year is expected to be 2019, which is higher than the survey ratio of the previous year; the survey results of expected operating income, expected expenditures, expected increase in office space, and expected increase in the number of entries are also higher than the previous year.
