Beijing Intellectual Property Court filed an Antitrust Lawsuit of Meituan canceled the Alipay Channel

On December 28, according to China Economic Weekly, Meituan encountered an anti-monopoly lawsuit, and Beijing Intellectual Property Court has opened a case for trial. The Notice of Acceptance of Civil Cases by Beijing Intellectual Property Court (2020) Jing 73 Min Chu No. 888 shows that Wang sued the defendants Beijing Sankuai Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Sankuai Information Technology Co., Ltd. in a dispute over abuse of dominant market position. The Beijing Intellectual Property Court has decided to file a case for trial according to the acceptance conditions stipulated in the Civil Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China.

 

On December 28, Mr. Wang’s client, Beijing Shijing Law Firm’s lawyer Chen Pengfei, introduced that Beijing Sankuai Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Sankuai Information Technology Co., Ltd. used the dominant position of their Meituan APP and Meituan Dianping APP, etc., and canceled Alipay channels. In this way, it has made it impossible for consumers to pay through Alipay with the aforementioned APP.
