Trademark center opens its doors
The Zhengzhou trademark examination cooperation center, which was launched on Oct 23, is responsible for affairs including trademark applications and transfers. Companies from six provinces surrounding Henan can also go to the center to register trademarks. Setting up such centers outside Beijing is an important measure undertaken by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Intellectual Property Administration to promote trademark registration. The other four centers are located in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Ji'nan.
Jiangxi
Protection facility debuts in Nanchang
The China (Nanchang) intellectual property protection center, approved by the National Intellectual Property Administration, was launched recently. It will offer services, such as quick examinations, rights recognition and protection, as well as IP operations, to industries in traditional Chinese medicine and electronic information. Liu Jianyang, mayor of Nanchang, said that the provincial capital will depend on the center to stimulate the IP system's key role in aspects including promoting innovation and comprehensively improving IP services.
Anhui
Service providers show interest
The city of Maanshan recently called for interest from patent services providers in such areas as intellectual property analysis and corporate patent information research. Ten providers from regions such as Beijing and Guangdong were selected. Officials said they would help the service organizations establish contact with local businesses. The aim is to help increase the awareness of local businesses, aid them to access patent information, strengthen their applications and protect their achievements.
Hunan
Applications see big rise
The province saw 66,616 patent applications filed in the first three quarters of this year, a year-on-year rise of 23.75 percent, and 36,476 patents granted, a year-on-year increase of 35.66 percent. Of the new patents granted, 6,400 were invention patents, 21,715 were utility models and 8,361 were industrial designs. Local officials said patent agencies have played a key role in helping inventors to own and protect their intellectual property. The province had 85 such agencies by the end of September.
Sichuan
Key portal goes online
A new intellectual property service website went online in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, on Wednesday. The portal, linked with the provincial copyright administration's data, features the use of blockchain technology to facilitate the protection of the IP assets registered with it. To date, several industrial parks in Chengdu have become registered users. These include a provincial digital publications industry center, a hub focusing on music in western China, a software park, a Zhongguancun-funded creative center and an online writers association.
