Recently, Chongqing Intellectual Property Information Center and Chongqing University jointly compiled the "Report on the Status of Intellectual Property Development in Chongqing Districts and Counties in 2019" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"). According to the Report, the comprehensive development of Chongqing's intellectual property rights is at the middle level in China, ranking among the top three in the twelve provinces and cities in the western region with Sichuan and Shaanxi. Among them, Yubei District, Jiangbei District, Jiulongpo District, Beibei District, Nan'an District, and Shapingba District rank in the first echelon of Chongqing's comprehensive development of intellectual property rights, with outstanding performance in various indicators such as creation, protection and utilization.
The Report aims to objectively evaluate and reflect the city’s intellectual property development through five primary indicators of intellectual property creation, use, protection, management, and service, and 29 secondary indicators of patent authorization, effective trademark registration, and trademark administrative protection intensity. It also actively guide the districts and counties to strengthen intellectual property work, and better serve the construction of a strong intellectual property city in Chongqing and high-quality economic and social development.
According to the Report, Chongqing Intellectual Property Comprehensive Development Index in 2019 was 69.63%, an increase of 1.85 percentage points from 2018. In 2019, the number of invention patents granted in the city was 6,988, an increase of 418 from 2018, a year-on-year increase of 6.36%. The number of valid trademark registrations reached 484,600, an increase of 110,700 over 2018, a year-on-year increase of 29.61%. The number of invention patents per 10,000 people was 10.46, a year-on-year increase of 15.20%. The intensity of judicial protection of intellectual property rights, the intensity of trademark administrative protection, and the intensity of copyright administrative protection have all increased compared with 2018. The number of patent administrative protection cases has increased by 94 compared with 2018. The output value of patented industrial enterprises’ products above designated size increased by 35.685 billion yuan from 2018. The number of municipal and above intellectual property advantage enterprises increased by 25 compared with 2018, a year-on-year increase of 20.16%. The number of intellectual property public service organizations (platforms) increased by eight compared with 2018. The number of districts and counties with intellectual property public service institutions (platforms) reached sixteen, an increase of three compared with 2018.
