The Intermediate People’s Court of Zunyi City, Guizhou Province recently opened a Court hearing on a case of counterfeiting registered trademarks. There were thirteen people produced and packaged more than 27,000 bottles of counterfeited Kweichow Moutai cross province. The defendants were sentenced to up to five years and six months imprisonment.
At the beginning of March 2019, the defendants Liu Mougui and Zheng Mouxiang decided to produce and package counterfeited Kweichow Moutai, which was funded by Liu Mougui, and Zheng Mouxiang was responsible for contacting relevant production and packaging personnel. After receiving Zheng Mouxiang’s notice, Chen, who lives in Renhuai City, Guizhou Province, organized production workers twice from Renhuai City to Liu Mougui’s hometown in Xundian County, Yunnan Province to produce and package counterfeited Kweichow Moutai.
On August 8, 2019, there were thirteen defendants including Liu Mougui and Zheng Mouxiang were arrested by the police one after another in Kunming, Yunnan Province. The police seized 4,569 counterfeited Kweichow Moutai liquors (27414 bottles), and the illegal business amount reached more than 41 million yuan.
The Intermediate People’s Court of Zunyi City sentenced the defendants Liu Mougui and other thirteen people to the crime of counterfeiting registered trademarks and sentenced Liu Mougui to five years and six months imprisonment and a fine of 21 million yuan; Zheng Mouxiang was sentenced to four years and six months of imprisonment and a fine of 2 million yuan. The remaining defendants were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from two years and six months to one year and six months and fined.
