Wuhan Intellectual Property Exchange Yearly Transaction Amount Significantly Increased

Wuhan Intellectual Property Exchange’s total amount of intellectual property transactions for the whole year 2020 is 6.421 billion yuan, which is a significant increase from 2019 and leads in China among similar institutions.

 

"A Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. developed 2X technology and successfully traded 98.388 million yuan; a certain information and communication technology company commissioned the development of network processing chip technology, and the transaction was successful, which was 10 million yuan." The reporter known from the Intellectual Property Exchange that these are the Exchange’s transaction amount in December, and the transaction like these were 6,436 cases in 2020.

 

It is reported that intellectual property is an important factor of production in a modern economic system, which means market, profit, and core competitiveness for enterprises. However, for a long time, intellectual property rights did not circulate and exert value as a high-value commodity. In 2014, China launched a series of actions to support the construction of an intellectual property operation service system, operating and managing intellectual property transactions as an industrial chain.

 

In Wuhan Intellectual Property Exchange, intellectual property transactions include traditional intellectual property transactions and publishing fusion product transactions.

 

Among them, traditional intellectual property rights include patents, software copyrights, trade secrets, new plant varieties, etc. From the data in December, the performance of patent’s intellectual property transactions was the most prominent, accounting for 84.6% of the total transaction amount in December; followed by computer software copyright, accounted for 10.7%; and bio-medicine and new varieties, accounted for 2.4%; and the equivalent is technical secrets, close to 2.4%.

 

Classified by field, electronic information intellectual property transactions were active, accounting for 93.7% of the total transaction value in December; followed by urban construction and social development, accounting for 4%; bio-medicine and medical devices, accounting for 1.4%; in addition, advanced manufacturing accounted for 0.5%, aerospace accounted for 0.33%, and modern transportation accounted for 0.06%.

 

The annual patent transactions accounted for 30.9%, and the electronic information intellectual property transactions accounted for 58.1%. It reflects the high level of innovation activity in the field of optical core screen terminal network in Wuhan.

 

Publishing fusion products are derivative products of copyright. For the whole year of 2020, the firm has completed a total of more than 32 million yuan in publishing fusion products’ transactions. According to the data in December, textbook and teaching supplementary publishing fusion products sales accounted for the vast majority of 99.63%. There were children in other categories, accounted for 0.22%, and literature, accounted for 0.15%.

 

Wang Wenjie, head of Wuhan Intellectual Property Exchange, introduced that transaction is an important form of intellectual property transformation. Through transactions, intellectual property rights can move forward to the market. In 2020, Wuhan intellectual property transactions had overcome the adverse effects of the epidemic, took the initiative to respond, and maintained the upward trend of transactions.
