Nokia has signed a patent licensing agreement with Samsung, including more than 3,500 5G patents

ChinaZ.com News:

Nokia announced on Thursday that it has signed a patent licensing agreement with Samsung that covers innovative technologies in video standards, Reuters reported. Under the agreement, Samsung will pay Nokia for the use of its technology.

It is understood that the agreement comes months after rival Ericsson filed a lawsuit against Samsung in the United States over a dispute over royalties and patent licensing. The US International Trade Commission said last month it would investigate after Ericsson claimed that Samsung had infringed some of its patents on systems for 4G and next-generation 5G wireless cellular communications infrastructure.

Although the companies did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement, Samsung will pay royalties to Nokia, according to the report. Nokia's patent portfolio consists of about 20,000 patent families, including more than 3,500 patents that have been declared critical to fifth generation networks (5G).
