Kuaishou held music copyright’s ecology conference, the first to introduce live room scene music copyright settlement standard

On March 22, the short video live broadcast platform Kuaishou held the 2021 Kuaishou Music Copyright Ecology Conference in Beijing. At the meeting, Kuaishou clarified the music copyright settlement standards for live room scenes for the first time and added separate settlement channels for lyrics and music copyrights and independent musician settlement channels based on the original settlement. This is also the first time an Internet platform has proposed a music copyright settlement standard applicable to the dual scenes of short videos and live broadcast before implement the newly revised Copyright Law on June 1, 2021.

At present, the dissemination of short videos has had a significant impact on the production, circulation, distribution, and consumption of music content and other industrial chain links. The Internet scene, dominated by short videos and live broadcasts, has begun to reshape the music industry to a certain extent.

At present, a pricing standard that can cover the entire industry is still in exploring. However, the market rules of use more for more, use less for less, undoubtedly help stimulate the creative enthusiasm of upstream musicians and songwriters.

As the connection between short video and the music industry is getting closer, the further improvement of copyright protection in this field and the copyright income of musicians has become one of the critical links affecting the industry's development.
