Tsuburaya Productions took "Ultraman" to court, arguing that the company's actions constituted unfair competition.
In the end, the court ruled:
"Ultraman" (China) Children's Products Co., Ltd. shall immediately stop using the company name of "Ultraman" on the effective date of this judgment, and change the company name within 30 days from the effective date of this judgment. The company name after change shall not contain the word "Ultraman";
"Ultraman" (China) Children's Products Co., Ltd. and Li Xiyuan shall immediately stop the unfair competition behavior of using the product name with certain influence without authorization upon the effective date of this judgment;
"Ultraman" (China) Children's Products Co., Ltd., and Li Xiyuan shall compensate the economic loss of CNY300,000 Yuan to the plaintiff, Tanju Production Co., Ltd., and CNY396,000 Yuan to Shanghai Xinchuanhua Cultural Development Co., Ltd.
Compensation for the reasonable expenses of CNY104,000 paid by Tanjaya Production Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Xinchuanghua Cultural Development Co., Ltd. to stop the infringement.

LG Electronics Inc. has won a patent infringement lawsuit against Chinese electronics maker TCL in Germany.

Despite the uncertainties about the course of the coronavirus pandemic, the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) saw an enormous increase in trade mark applications last year. In 2020, the DPMA received 89,438 trade mark applications. This is 13.5% more than in the previous year and the highest number in 20 years. Only once before, during the Internet boom at the turn of the millennium, the number of trade mark applications had been higher. For the first time in its history, more than 60,000 trade marks were entered in the electronic register by the DPMA (60,425).
