Gree Electric Appliances, founded in 1991, is a collection of research and development, production, sales, service in one of the international household appliances enterprises, with Gree, TOSOT, Jinghong three brands. In more than 20 years of development, the company has always adhered to innovation-driven, firmly grasp the core technology, to build its own brand. The "Gree" brand air conditioner of Gree Electric Appliances is the "world famous brand" in China's air conditioning industry, and its business covers more than 100 countries and regions around the world.

Gree put forward the idea of "spending on research and development according to demand without setting an upper limit". In 2018 alone, the research and development investment reached 7.268 billion yuan. After long-term precipitation and accumulation, the company has applied for 80,547 domestic patents, including 41,073 invention patents. A total of 44,830 patents have been granted, including 10,439 invention patents and 2,445 international patents. In the State Intellectual Property Office's ranking list in 2020, Gree Electric Appliances ranked sixth in China and first in the home appliance industry. Now it has 31 "internationally leading" technologies, and has won 2 National Science and Technology Progress Awards, 2 National Technology Invention Awards, and 4 China Patent Prizes.

Gree's research institutes design a variety of fields: refrigeration technology, new energy and environment technology, health technology, intelligent equipment technology, robot engineering technology, Internet of Things technology and so on.
