On March 26, Alibaba officially released the "2020 Alibaba Intellectual Property Protection Annual Report". The report shows that the number of suspected infringing links reported by consumers in 2020 has dropped by 33% compared with the previous year; 98% of intellectual property infringement complaints were handled within 24 hours; the number of rights holders increased by 40% year-on-year.

In addition, the number of patents for the core technology of anti-counterfeiting "Intellectual Property Protection Technology Brain" increased from 180 in 2019 to 262; the AI model "Taji" that solves the problem of infringement of pirated images can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual costs for businesses; the Wujiang anti-counterfeiting system covers 30 provinces across the country, lights up over 20,000 brand-authorized stores, and nearly 30,000 volunteers participated in reporting offline counterfeit stores.

Alibaba also incubates new products through the original protection plan to help small and medium-sized enterprises connect with design agencies, designers and IP holders. At present, more than 15,000 original design works have been incubated through original protection.

It is understood that on April 20, 2018, Alibaba Intellectual Property Research Institute was formally established. As of the end of September 2019, 96% of Alibaba's intellectual property complaints were handled within 24 hours, and the number of brand owners on the Alibaba intellectual property protection platform increased by 20%; the volume of suspected infringing goods per 10,000 transactions was only 1.03, a 67% decrease in five years.
