Xiaomi's ecological chain company Dreame Technology won the recent Dyson patent invalidation applications in China and patent infringement disputes with Dyson in Germany.
The China National Intellectual Property Administration recently declared that Dyson's invention patents on hair dryers (application number CN201410321250.5, titled "hand-held appliances") are all invalid. This patent was applied for in 2014, earlier than 2016, when Dyson hairdryers were released and belong to an early patent. Although this is only one of Dyson's many hair dryer related patents, it is the key patent currently used by Dyson for hairdryer rights protection.
Besides, in July 2020, Dyson issued a warning letter to the dealers of Dreame Technology that the "Dreame V9" and "Dreame V10" cyclone vacuum cleaners infringed their patent rights and requested the third-party e-commerce platform Amazon.com to remove vacuum cleaner products related to Dreame Technology; on August 28, 2020, Dreame Technology filed an injunction application with the District Court of Braunschweig, Germany: prohibiting Dyson from claiming that Dreame Technology distributors and Amazon platforms claim that Dreame Technology products infringed its patent rights. In the end, the courts of the first and second instance in Germany determined that the V9 and V10 cyclone vacuum cleaners of Dreame Technology did not infringe Dyson's European Patent No. EP2043493B1 and Dyson shall not issue warning letters to Dreame Technology's customers that Dreame was suspected of patent infringement. Dyson withdrew the appeal and admitted the content of the court's decision.
