Huangpu Customs introduced on the 12th that Shatian Customs, which belongs to the Customs, recently seized 10.3 million suspected infringing cigarettes imported from a bonded warehouse, weighing more than 10 tons, which is the most significant number of infringement cases detected by the Customs in recent years.
When Shatian Customs monitored the account books of a bonded warehouse, it found that a batch of imported cigarettes had been stored in the warehouse for several months and had not gone through relevant customs procedures. Shatian Customs immediately arrived at the site to verify. Customs officers found the cigarettes stored in a container placed in an outdoor storage yard.
The customs immediately contacted the right holder, Anhui China Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd., and confirmed that the batch of cigarettes was suspected of infringing on its trademark "D&B" registered with the General Administration of Customs. There were 10.3 million cigarettes in total and a weight of over 10 tons. At present, the right holder has submitted an application for intellectual property protection to the customs, and the case has been transferred to relevant departments for processing.
