In 2018, the total number of national copyright registrations reached 3,457,338, an increase of 25.83% compared with 2,747,652 in 2017.
According to the statistics published by the copyright administrations of different provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities as well as Copyright Protection Center of China, 2,351,952 works were registered nationwide in 2018, an increase of 349,986 compared with the number of works registered in 2017 (200,1966), with a growth rate of 17.48 %.
The overall number of registered works is increasing, with Beijing (39.10%), Jiangsu (12.85%) and Shanghai (11.12%) figuring among the top three sources of registered works.
In terms of the type of work, the top four are artwork (42.20%), photography (38.99%), written works (11.83%) and cinematography (2.26%).
According to the statistics published by Copyright Protection Center of China 2018, a total of 1,104,839 computer software copyright were registered nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 48.22%.
The main part of the software copyright registration comes from the East of China (72.78%). Besides, registration from the Northeast of China increased rapidly, 42% higher than the average growth rate of the country.
Regions contributing most to software copyright registration are: Guangdong, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Sichuan, Fujian, Hubei and Henan. Adding together, registration of these regions account for 77.38% of the total number.
Among all the popular registered software, APP increased by 76.29%, becoming one of the fast-growing software type. In addition, artificial intelligence software increased by 104.02%, big data software 64.27%, both representing a growth rate higher than the overall level and demonstrating various degrees of rapid development.
According to the statistics published by the Copyright Protection Center of China, last year, a total of 547 copyright pledges were registered nationwide, an increase of 82.94%. Among all the registered copyright pledges, 350 go to software, an increase of 50.21%; 197 go to works (in addition to computer software), an increase of 198.48%.
