The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on October 25 invalidated the last one patent of the six patents which US robotic vacuum maker iRobot Corporation accused Chinese rival SharkNinja Operating LLC, a subsidiary of JS Global, of infringing.
In 2019, iRobot filed a complaint with a Boston federal court, claiming its 6 patents were infringed by SharkNinja’s ION-series, IQ-series and AI-series Shark robotic vacuum cleaners. It sought an injunction against further infringement and unspecified damages. Defendant SharkNinja filed a petition with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) to invalidate the 6 allegedly infringed patents.
Earlier this year, iRobot Corporation withdrew its claims about two allegedly infringed patents. Before the latest invalidation ruling, another three allegedly infringed patents had been invalidated by the PTAB.
