Copyright Protection Center of China Join Hands with Thunder Chain to Build a New Ecology of Copyright

The 2019 CPCC China Copyright Service Annual Conference was held in Beijing on March 28, 2019. As the host, the Copyright Protection Center of China(CPCC) published China’s Digital Copyright Identifier (DCI) to protect copyrights with the blockchain technology and boost the in-depth development of the integration of all media coorperate with several Chinese Internet platforms including Weibo, Thunder and JD.com on the 9th DCI System Forum. As a technology partner, Thunder will provide blockchain technology support to the DCI system.
With the steady development of the Internet industry and the century of all media, the weak points and problems in protection and operation on digital copyright starts emerging gradually.
At present, there exist a great number of piracy or infringement cases in the domain of digital copyright. There are quite a lot of reasons for this situation. The first reason lies in the fact that compared to the nearly zero cost in digital content copying, it takes much more time and costs to investigate in lack of sufficient resources. Second, the explosive of self-media brings a burst of contents some of which may mislead people’s understanding and twist the truth. The traditional Internet ecology is becoming a lot more behind of the rapid development, where it is hard to trace the sources of information, in thus the Internet is often flooded with the explosive fake news. The present situation not only leads a severe trend that fake information drives out the true, but also stands against the construction of correct social values.
In order to provide support of essential public services including authentication, authorization and protection of copyright to the relative parties of digital copyright, the DCI system, a brand new public service on digital copyright has been proposed by the CPCC. In the DCI system, each Internet digital work will be allocated a specific permanent DCI code and issued with a digital copyright certificate of registration. A reliable and inspectable security certification system will be established with the help of electronic signature and digital certificate. The technological principles of verifiability, traceability and tamper-resistance of blockchain perfectly match the applicable requirement of the DCI system and serve sound technological solutions to the digital copyright problems.
