A few days ago, the patent infringement case in which Jiangsu General Protecht Co., Ltd. (GP) demanded Bull Group Co., Ltd.(Bull) with a compensation total of 99.9 million Yuan was tried by Jiangsu Nanjing Intermediate People's Court, which was called Chinese case of patent infringement with the greatest amount of the subject. Nowadays, the Bull filed its request for invalidation to the Department of Reexamination and Mistrial of the Patent Office of the CNIPA against two patent rights owned by the GP.

On April 23, the oral hearing on the No.5W116677 invalidation request was launched by the CNIPA. It was the first case for publicity in 2019, whose name for the utility model patent was Safety Protection Device for Power Strip, of which GP was the official patent holder while the Bull was the invalidation requester. It was one of the two invalidation requests cases launched by the Bull v. GP.

It was shown by the CNIPA that the patent involved was concerned with a safety protection device against accidental electric shocks. According to the introduction of the patent background technology, there has been a common safety hazard in present power strips, in which people might get shocked when holding an electric conductive stick into the socket, which also decreases the safety of the power strips. In thus, in order to avoid such a danger, the patent was invented for safety protection of power strips.

The judgement conclusion may have a deep influence on the market and safety protection technology for power strips, for it is the case of the greatest amount of the subject in the area of safety protection of power strips for patent infringement. Regarding the fact, there has been established a five-judge panel to hear the case by the Department of Reexamination and Mistrial of the Patent Office of the CNIPA.
