Patent Application Quantities of Haikou Reached 4,260 in 2018

To celebrate the 19th World Intellectual Property Day, a series of activities including publicity, consultation and training of intellectual property were held by the Haikou Intellectual Property Office successfully with the theme of Strictly Protecting IPRs and Creating First-class Business Environment.

It was known that in recent years, a lot of progress has been made in the IP field with the careful implementation of the national IP strategy by Haikou, whose achievement on IP keeps leading in the whole province. In 2018, the total patent application quantities of Haikou reached 4,260 and increased by 33.4% than a year ago, taking up 66.0% of that of the province. The patents authorization reached 2,234 and increased by 54.0% year-on-year, accounting for 67.9% of Hainan Province. PCT applications reached 15 and accounted for 88.2% of the province while 1,932 for valid invention patents, accounting for 72.8% of Hainan. Till December, 2018, the valid patents owned in Hainan reached 42,574 and increased by 25.6% compared to that of the last year, four patents owned by Yeguo, Xinjiada, Qilu and Haima of which won the 20th WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design.

A lot of achievement has been made by the Haikou Intellectual Property Office with the focus on frauds concerned with IP and patents complained or reported by the public. In total, in 2018, there were 5 cases on patent infringement disputes received in Hainan and 39 on patent violation were concluded. Meanwhile, there were 66 cases on trademark infringement received and 52 were concluded, with the total value involved of 1,048,000 Yuan and the confiscated money of 1,847,900. By the means of combating IP violations and raising the IP legal awareness of the whole society to build a favorable environment for innovation and technological innovation, the commodity market of Haikou will be promoted to develop in a more steady way.
