First National IP Information Service Center Seminar Held in Guangzhou

The first National Intellectual Property Information Service Center Seminar was held in Guangzhou from May 22 to May 24. The seminar was sponsored by the State Intellectual Property Office, organized by Science and Technology Development Center of Ministry of Education and co-organized by Zhongshan University and Guangdong Zhongce Intellectual Property Research Institute. The seminar was attended by He Zhimin, vice director of National Intellectual Property Administration, leaders from ten universities and directors of over ninety college intellectual property information service centers.

Over ten experts and scholars were invited to the seminar to give lectures on the construction of IP public service, colleges’ scientific and technological innovations, colleges’ IP strategies and plans, transfer of technological achievements, development and application of information and patent. They also awarded the plates for the first batch of twenty-three college IP information service centers.

College IP information service centers are an important part of national IP framework and a critical juncture of IP information public service. In recent years, college IP information service centers have realized the advantages of information and human resources. Progress has been made in IP information services, IP lectures, industry-university-research integration and support of colleges’ scientific research. These centers are significant to improve the quality of college IP products and promote the transfer of college technological achievements.

The first batch of twenty-three centers is selected and guided by State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and Ministry of Education after independent application, primary selection, expert assessment, and list publication. The aim is to facilitate IP public service system that benefits all citizens, supports the innovation-driven strategy and invigorates the country through intellectual property.
