It was known from Hubei Intellectual Property Office on June 20 that there were 1,128 cases on trademark infringement investigated in Hubei in 2018 with the amount of 8.6718 million Yuan. A case of Gong infringing the exclusive right of the registered trademark owned by South Bedding was listed among the 2018 Top Ten Typical Cases on Administrative Protection on Trademarks in China.

It was introduced that the 2018 Top Ten Typical Cases on Administrative Protection on Trademarks in China were finally determined after the process of regional recommendation, online voting and expert review.

The case of Gong infringing the exclusive right of the registered trademark owned by South Bedding was particular for the fact that the litigant was in charge of a franchise store of the right holder. It would confuse the customers more easily if these franchise stores selling counterfeited products where the customers might think what they bought were genuine. The great efficiency of the case investigated by handling organs successfully protected the market order and legal rights of customers.

In recent years, Hubei Intellectual Property Office effectively carried out the function of administrative IP protection, further implemented the strategies of using IP and brands to strengthen the province. It also kept the Five High Criteria, encouraging the Three Major Projects on IP and participating in the strategic layout of One Core, Two Belts and Three Zones put forward by the provincial government with efforts. In 2018, there were 1,128 cases on trademark infringement investigated in Hubei worthy of 8.6718 million Yuan, which contributed to protecting the legal rights of market subjects conscientiously and perfecting the business environment.
