IPR Protection Office Joins CIFTIS for the Sixth Consecutive Year to Promote IPR Trade in Services

On May 28, the 2019 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was launched in Beijing. The CIFTIS IPR Protection Office, consisting of Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office, Integrated Law Enforcement on Cultural Market and other departments, took part in CIFTIS to provide IPR protection services including providing legal advice, accepting disputes and complaints and dealing with infringement. This is the sixth consecutive year for the Office to join this event.

Echoing with this year’s theme of “openness, innovation, intelligence and integration”, Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office will hold four forums focusing on “IPR helps enterprises in the service industry to go global”, “international exchanges on IPR”, “high-end foreign IPR services” and “talented people: IPR and innovation and entrepreneurship”, so as to promote IPR trade in services in Beijing.

On the afternoon of May 28, “IPR helps enterprises in the service industry to go global”, an international seminar co-organized by Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office and WIPO Office in China (WOC), attracted guests from WIPO, export-oriented enterprises in Beijing and IPR service institutions. They exchanged ideas on such issues as global IPR service system, global IPR landscape of enterprises and IPR’s role in helping enterprises “go global”. In his speech, Yang Dongqi, secretary of the leading Party group of Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office, said that Beijing boasts a sound foundation for the service industry and an enabling environment for IPR protection, and is working towards a first-class business environment to further open to the outside world.

CIFTIS, co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the people’s government of Beijing Municipality and supported by international organizations including World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, is the only national-level exhibition of trade in services of the Chinese government and is an international event. This year’s CIFTIS has attracted enterprises and institutions from 130 countries and regions, and will see exhibitions and negotiations of cooperation in 12 areas of trade in services.
