Trademark Registration Show a Year-on-year Increase of 67.8%

China has been facilitating its trademark registration and providing IP examination of higher quality and efficiency.

In the first half of this year, China has registered 3515 thousand trademarks, presenting a year on year increase of 67.8%, and the examine cycle has been shrunk to five and a half months. Until now, its valid registration has been over 22.74 million,which reassures its first place in the world. There’s a valid patent per 5.2 market entities.

Shen Changyu, director of CNIPA, said,China is not only a major trademark registration country but also the destination for foreign companies to register their trademarks. As an important member of Madrid International Trademark Registration Alliance, China has been actively promoting international trademark cooperation, ranking third in terms of Madrid International Trademark Registration which amounted to nearly 3000 in the first half of this year and 6900 last year, closely following Europe and the US About 36.7 thousand applications were filed in the past six months, making China the second in the alliance and also the major driver for Madrid application.
