The meeting of the directors of the IP 5, the China National Intellectual Property Administration, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, the Japanese Patent Office, and the South Korean Intellectual Property Office will be hosted by CNIPA for the first time through a video conference on July 21. The annual meeting was originally scheduled to be held in Chengdu, China in June, but it was postponed due to the epidemic situation and was held by video conference.
The IP 5 directors meeting is the most influential event in the cooperation of the five offices. It has received extensive attention from the global intellectual property community and has a milestone significance for the cooperation process and future development of the five offices. The meeting will focus on the strategic measures to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic and the cooperation between the five offices in the post-epidemic era. The meeting will also report on and approve the progress and next steps of cooperation projects such as emerging technologies and patent coordination, as well as online meeting guidelines that regulate the new working mode of the five offices' cooperation.
Since the launch of the "China Intellectual Property Service March" activity in 2020 for half a year, all the work is progressing smoothly. The theme of the event was "Intellectual Property Services Help Reinstate Production and Support Innovation and Entrepreneurship". First, 30 provincial IP offices formulated and issued specific implementation plans and launched 356 activities around five key tasks; second, they emphasized the close connection between service demand and supply; third is to guide and strengthen publicity and promotion.
In order to punish the crimes of infringing on commercial secrets according to law, increase the criminal judicial protection of intellectual property rights, and maintain the socialist market economic order, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Criminal Law and the Criminal Procedure Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and The Ministry of Public Security studied and drafted the "Supplementary Provisions on Revising the "Provisions on the Standards for Prosecution of Criminal Cases under the Public Security Organs under the Supreme People's Procuratorate (2)". "Supplementary Provisions on the Prosecution Standards for Infringement of Commercial Secrets (Draft for Comment)", which is now open to the public opinions. The deadline for feedback is August 23, 2020.
Recently, the China Intellectual Property Administration issued the "Decision on Awarding the 21st China Patent Awards". Among them, 30 invention and utility model patents won the Chinese Patent Gold Award, and 10 design patents won the Chinese Design Gold Award. In addition, according to the awards of the recommended projects, it was decided to award the Best Organization for 8 units including the Guangdong Intellectual Property Office, the Excellent Organization Award for 20 units including the Tianjin Intellectual Property Office, and 12 Best Recommendation Award for academicians including Sun Yongfu.
To play an active role in the protection of geographical indications to enhance the competitiveness of China's products and serve the construction of a powerful country with intellectual property rights, the 14th Five-Year Plan for the protection and use of geographical indications has been launched. In order to expand the social participation of the planning and plan the protection and use of geographical indications during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, we sincerely invite all sectors of the society to make suggestions around the promotion of high-quality development of the protection and use of geographical indications in my country. The time period is from July 16 to August 16, 2020.
Recently, there have been new developments in the Red Bull series of trademark disputes. As an applicant, Red Bull Vitamin Beverage Co., Ltd. filed a request for invalidation of "Red Bull " (three-dimensional trademark) owned by Tiansi Medical and Health Care Co., Ltd. China National Intellectual Property Administration ruled that the reason for invalidation was not established, and the trademark was maintained and the right was confirmed. The patent owner Tiansi Co. still enjoys the legal rights and interests of Red Bull Gold Can Packaging.
According to the data of Tianyancha, recently, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. added several pieces of patent information, one of which is: an automatic driving method and device, the application date is December 27, 2018, and the application publication date is July 10, 2020. The patent abstract shows that the embodiments of the present application disclose an automatic driving method and an automatic driving system, which are used to determine an automatic driving strategy based on the user's historical driving behavior data and current environmental data, thereby achieving safe driving.
