Until the end of June this year, Gansu’s intellectual property performance has been increased significantly in various indicators compare with the end of the twelfth five-year plan, and the innovation capacity has been improved remarkably.

From 2015, Gansu’s government includes the number of invention patents owned per ten thousand population into the economic social development main indicator of the entire province. Gansu Government reinforced the quality-oriented of the patent application, each of the indicators has revealed the trend of accelerated growth. Among them, the patent application annual growth has exceeded 18 percent, and the authorization amount has been over 37%. Until the end of June this year, compare with the intellectual property innovation indicator of the end of the twelfth five-year plan, the patent application amount has reached 112335 cases, which has been increased for 119.71%; the patent authorization amount was 51130 cases, which has been increased 124.32%; the inventory patent owned per ten thousand people has been 2.94 cases, increased 86.08%; the amount of the valid trademark registration of the province has been reached 109911 cases, which has been increased 219%. The geographical indications protection products have been 67 pieces, increased by 28.85%. Local standards for Geographical indications protection products have been 46 cases, which has been improved for 64.29%.

During the thirteenth five-year plan, Gansu was listed as the first Characteristic intellectual property advantaged province construction pilot by CNIPA. Gansu has owned seven national intellectual property pilot cities; one national intellectual property advantaged county program demonstration county, fourteen pilot counties, and four traditional-knowledge intellectual property protection pilot counties. Gansu has fostered 214 provincial intellectual property advantaged enterprises, and national intellectual property advantaged demonstration enterprises for 111.
