On October 22, 2020, Henan Province Fangcheng County People’s Court opened a hearing to the public prosecution agency for accusing the defendants Wang Moujun and seven others’ crime of copyright infringement, selling infringing copies, and assist in destroy evidence case. The judgment was made in court by law.

The first instance judged the defendant Wang Moujun was sentenced of three years’ set term of imprisonment and fined for 150,000 yuan, and the other defendants were sentenced for three years and a half to one year and two months imprisonment.

It was found after trial that from 2016, the defendant Wang Moujun cracked the account of a movie theater in Henan Province Neixiang and Fangcheng. Wang got the password of the movie projection server and made profit through copy the server’s mainboard and infringed the copyright of the authorized movies. The defendant Wang Moujun, together with defendant Xie MouMin, used the copied projection server and its password and got movie resources from a movie theater in Fangcheng and a movie theater owned by the defendant Wang Mouping. The defendant Wang Moujun copied and produced infringed movies and sold to private movie theaters to play. These movies including “Hello, Mr. Billionaire” etc. were spread on the Internet and caused a significant adverse social impact. The defendant Wang Moujun and Xie Moumin got an illicit income of 1,123,472 yuan, among them Xie Moumin received illegal income of 470,427 yuan.
